MY DIARY

MY YOUNG STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS

Gaia is a Year 11 student at Queen Elizabeth High School, Gainsborough. She has a great interest in politics, from local issues to national affairs and is a volunteer in my constituency office.

Craig is the latest addition to my staff, joining us as a business administration apprentice and is already a great asset.

Lawrence is studying at John Leggott College and leads our local Young Labour Group as well as working on various projects in the office.

I am Nic Dakin, Member of Parliament for Scunthorpe County. I entered Parliament in the 2010 General Election.

Scunthorpe is my home, and I want to do all I can to help our area meet the challenges of the future and continue to be a thriving community of caring, hardworking people.

I have lived and worked in Scunthorpe for over 30 years with my wife Audrey and my three children, all of whom grew up in Scunthorpe. I am also an avid supporter of the Iron, and have been a Scunthorpe United season ticket holder for more years than I’d like to admit!

My professional background before entering parliament was teaching. I taught English in Hull, Gävle in eastern Sweden, and then in Scunthorpe.

Prior to becoming MP, I was lucky enough to be Vice Principal, then Principal of John Leggot College in Scunthorpe. I was also Leader of North Lincolnshire Council for six years. These experiences have allowed me to learn so much about our area, and it is this local knowledge that helps me most in my work as an MP.

During my time as MP I promise to work my hardest for Scunthorpe County and do my best to fight for the interests of our community in Parliament.
