My Diary Week Ending 3rd June 2018
It's been good to have the time to visit some of the many award winning businesses in our area over the recess. I really enjoyed catching up with the fantastic team at I Learn Education to celebrate their recent OfstedOutstanding. Well done to all the children and staff!
The Pink Pig is the largest private provider in the local tourism business recently winning a national award for rural diversification. I was really impressed to see how they are developing the business with even more for families to do.
And it was good to visit one of the winners of last year's Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards Qualiluminar, to look round their modular home construction business.
The sunshine brought families out in Central Park where i was delighted to drop in to join the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for the first day of their 30 days wild activities, a multitude of Love Lincs Plants activities for children.
Sadly the big news of the week was less positive with President Trump confirming the United States will impose 25% tariffs on UK Steel. It really is now time for the UK Government to act in support of our steel industry. Too often they are asleep at the wheel when action is necessary. Thank goodness the EU is showing leadership and making clear that it won't be bullied by Trump and will stand up for European steelworkers and steel communities like ours. Steel is an important part of our present and future. Our steel heritage has helped to forge our place and the people who live here.
It was good to meet up with the Heritage Lottery Fund and talk about the ways in which they might better support our area.
Finally it was good to be updated on how local probation services are getting on as they move into new premises
