The consultation

The quality of support provided to men and women who leave the Armed Forces to help them and their families transition to civilian life is extremely important. Those who give so much to our country should get the service they deserve, with the advice, support and training that will help them build new lives. We are proud that this improved with a Labour government, but issues remain and provision can always be improved.

We want to see a personalised system where health, injury, housing, skills, past experience, family location and personal ambition are all taken into consideration when helping the adjustment to life outside the Services.

Having listened to our members and being aware of the increased numbers of service leavers in coming years, government support for resettlement is clearly a matter of concern and Labour Friends of the Forces is therefore holding a consultation on how the current resettlement service works. Any findings will be considered by the Shadow Defence Team’s policy review on the Future of the Military Covenant.

By participating in this consultation we hope you will share your ideas for how to improve the resettlement process.

We want Labour policies to be based on the experiences of service personnel and their families and where it is clear that improvements can be made, we will campaign for those changes.

Take part

We want to know about your experience of the MoD resettlement service. You are welcome to respond whether as a service leaver or a family member by completing the form below.

You will also have the opportunity to provide details of the aspects of the service which worked for you, which didn’t, why, and whether there are changes that can be made to improve the system.
